Hi kids! I haven't drawn many comics lately because I've been lazy lazy and also working on something else! I'm currently developing a competitive puzzle game, and it's pretty damn beautiful. Normally I don't like talking about games I'm working on because I have started a lot of games that were quickly abandoned, but the fact that this game is probably less than a month away from being feature complete*, paired with the fact that I am now officially a licensed Nintendo indie developer, I decided that this is going to be one of the games I actually finish!

So that's where people who aren't me come in. I am a pretty good programmer and a not-bad game designer. I am a mediocre artist and not at all a musician. I have recruited one of my BEST FWENDS to handle the music for this game, but I do not yet have an artist! I've drawn some rough concept art for all of the characters, and I think they're pretty decent - I could do the art for this game myself if I had to, but ideally I could pass that off onto someone else. That someone else could be you!

This game plays nothing like Puyo Puyo, but if you're familiar with that series, it's similar to that in the sense that it's a tile-based competitive puzzle game where you have an avatar representing yourself and your opponent, and there are little cutscenes between matches and whatnot so the game looks like it's polished and stylized and not just made by a big dumb nerd.

So if upon looking at that concept art you thought, "pfft, I could do better!" and would LIKE to do better, contact me here or through emails at fench at hauntedbees dot com! As for what the job entails - each character has 8 in-game poses, two victory screen poses, and one title screen pose. There are 10 characters, so that's 110 drawings, plus eight poses each for two boss characters, rounding up to include a few other things, that's about 130 character drawings that need to be done. The game will be coming to PC (Windows, hopefully Linux and OS X too, if I can get some machines to test it on) and Wii U, and I'll be charging money for it! Which means you'll be getting 20%-33% of the profits (depending on if anyone else gets hired to do things later on like voice acting and whatnot), assuming anyone buys it! The PC version will ideally be free/open source, so it's entirely possible that literally everyone will just download it for free, which is unlikely, but keep in mind that this may not be a very profitable venture.

If you want to know more about this whatsit, take on the job, try out an in-progress version of the game, or anything else, let me know! This is mostly directed at friends, since I don't expect complete strangers to say "oh sure I'll draw all kinds of stuff for a game made by a nobody without getting paid until the game is released some time next year!", but if you ARE a complete stranger saying that, I'm okay with that, too!

*Because I said that on a public website, it will probably be much more than "less than a month" now. Progress is going well, is what I am saying.

Things get wacky for the Reading Books Club when everyone decides they’re in their early-to-mid twenties and are probably too old to be trick-or-treating anymore!

Now in one overly long image because uploading multiple pages of a comic to deviantArt at the same time is annoying as inappropriate boners! Also I hand drew this one AS YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO TELL. Only post-processing done was upping the contrast a bit and erasing some smudge that the scanner left on the right side of each scan. I feel like I can draw better when I'm hand drawing, but it's can be slower since I pencil in everything first before inking it... and full coloring would just be a pain in the ass without a handy dandy flood tool for large areas. I might hand draw more comics in the future simply because it involves a lot less setup and I can multitask easier while doing so.

The Flinstones: Return to Orbit City by PsychoPop

A while back I made this: psychopop.deviantart.com/art/T…

Today I got some markers, pencils, and fancy paper, so I decided to redraw it for who-knows-what reason.

I like markers, and I am okay with colored pencils, but I basically only chose them over colored markers because it's only $60 for a shitton of them instead of $1000 for a shitton of them.
